About AS/A Level

AS and A Levels are academic qualifications offered by the Cambridge Assessment International Education and Pearson Edexcel examination boards in the United Kingdom and other countries. These qualifications are usually taken by students aged 16 to 19

AS stands for Advanced Subsidiary Level, and A stands for Advanced Level. Students usually take AS Levels in their first year of post-16 education and A Levels in their second year. AS and A Levels are generally studied in a range of subjects, including English language and literature, mathematics, sciences, social sciences, languages, and the arts.

Assessments in AS and A Levels are based on a combination of exams and coursework. Exams are usually held at the end of the academic year, and coursework is completed throughout the year. The exams are generally graded on a scale of A* to E, with A* being the highest grade.

AS and A Levels are highly valued by universities. They are recognized as a gold standard of academic achievement and are often required for admission to universities and for certain professions. The skills and knowledge gained through AS and A Levels are transferable to a range of careers and can provide a solid foundation for lifelong learning.

The AS and A Level curricula are designed to provide students with a rigorous academic education that prepares them for university-level studies. The curricula emphasize critical thinking, analytical skills, and independent research. The A Level curriculum is more advanced than the AS Level curriculum, and it requires students to study their chosen subjects in greater depth.
